We have to move forward with updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan so the time to offer opinion must close.  The Town’s Comprehensive Plan community survey will be removed from the website on Monday, May 21st. The survey was first placed up onto the website on March 21st providing us with 2 months of data collection.   As a reminder, please know the existing 2006 comprehensive plan can be found on the Planning Department’s page of the town website along with the draft 2018 comprehensive plan. In addition to the website, until next Monday, hard copy surveys can be found at the Town library and within each of the Town Hall buildings.

President Trump says on Twitter he was forced to pull out of his planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. In a letter to Kim, Trump cited "tremendous anger and open hostility" in recent statements from the North. The withdrawal comes after a North Korean official called Vice President Mike Pence a "political dummy" for comparing North Korea to Libya.        Florida Senator Marco Rubio is agreeing with the President's decision to pull out of the summit with Kim Jong Un. Rubio tweeted shortly after the announcement saying it's "100 percent the right decision." He added a mock congratulations to Kim, saying, "You just played yourself." But New Jersey Democratic Senator Bob Menendez criticized the Trump administration for not doing more "deep preparation" before agreeing to a summit."       Actor Morgan Freeman is reportedly being accused of sexual harassment. CNN reports that eight women have come forward about Freeman's inappropriate behavior while working on his movies. A former production assistant tells the network that Freeman repeatedly asked her to lift up her skirt and made comments about her figure in 2015 during filming of "Going In Style." She adds that co-star Alan Arkin saw it happening and told Freeman to stop.        The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says there will be a near or above normal hurricane season this year in the Atlantic Basin. In its forecast released today, the NOAA says ten to 16 named storms are expected, five to nine of which are going to be hurricanes, and one to four that will become Category Three or higher hurricanes. The Atlantic Basin comprises the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.        Publix Super Markets says it regrets that some of its political contributions have led to "an unintentional customer divide." The Florida-based chain issued a statement following Stoneman Douglas shooting survivor David Hogg's announcement of what he calls a "die-in" to take place at two stores in Parkland tomorrow. The event is a protest of Publix's reported half-million-dollar contribution to the campaign for governor of Republican and gun-rights advocate Adam Putnam.        Elon Musk is calling out the mainstream media. The head honcho of SpaceX and Tesla went on a Twitter rant Wednesday, calling the media "holier-than-thou." He went on to say that big media has lost its credibility, blamed it for the election of President Trump and said journalists are obsessed with getting website clicks. Musk says he's creating a website that will keep the media in check.
