YARD WASTE

Residents are reminded that curbside pick-up of yard waste (grass clippings, small branches, weeds, etc.) ends the week of June 11th on your normal collection day.

The drop-off site in Blackstone, MA, off Canal Street (North Smithfield) will continue to be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, for those residents having the appropriate yard waste sticker (TAN for 2018); all residential properties in the City of Woonsocket are included in the yard waste drop-off program.  Stickers can be obtained, for a $25.00 fee, at City Hall in the Department of Public Works, Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 4 pm.  Proper identification and vehicle registration is required.  Commercial vehicle registrations are excluded from this program.

Residents are reminded that it is illegal to throw yard waste in the household waste collection carts and/or recycle carts.

Curbside yard waste collection will resume in October.

Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at (401) 767-8880.

Four people are supporting Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's claiming that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh tried to sexually assault her when they were in high school in the early 1980s. Ford's attorneys yesterday handed over sworn declarations to the Senate Judiciary Committee ahead of Thursday's hearing on the abuse charges. Kavanaugh denies the allegations.       President Trump is looking past the laughs during his speech to the UN General Assembly yesterday. Some leaders laughed and some groaned when Trump said his administration has accomplished more than almost any other administration in the history of the U.S. He smiled and said -- "I didn't expect that reaction, but that's OK."        Flooding could sweep across two South Carolina counties very soon. Rivers in Horry and Georgetown counties are expected to crest, possibly sending floodwaters five to ten feet deep into the town of Georgetown.        Bill Cosby apparently owes a ton of money in legal fees. TMZ says the disgraced comedian has more than 280-thousand dollars in unpaid legal bills for his sexual assault case. The 81-year-old Cosby was sentenced to at least three years in prison yesterday for drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University athletics staffer Andrea Constand.        A new study finds most drivers don't understand the limits of advanced safety features on new cars. The survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety shows many drivers think features such as blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency breaking, and adaptive cruise control actually drive the car.        If you've ever wanted to live, or decorate your home like a Rockefeller, now's your chance. Sotheby's will auction the personal art collection of former Vice President Nelson Rockefeller. The estate sale in New York City in November will include works by Picasso, Miro, and Warhol.
